MQM-P Filed Case Against Altaf Hussain
MQM-P leader Syed Aminul Haque filed the case, which went on for years.
The MQM-Pakistan was identified by the British court as the true beneficiary of the trusts that oversaw these assets, and its current members as the true party. Judge Clive Jones of Insolvency and Companies determined in his decision that Altaf Hussain resigned in August 2016 from any role with MQM-Pakistan.
MQM-Pakistan leaders argued that Altaf Hussain had not held a leadership position in the organization for the previous seven years. It was thought that Altaf, a contentious politician, would be left with nothing if she lost the court battle.
He informed the judge during the proceedings that the properties were bought with money donated by MQM supporters and employees. Hussain, who maintains a low profile, was seen at earlier court appearances taking notes on the case but now faces a severe setback because of his financial predicament.
