SAN FRANCISCO, CA: On Thursday, Microsoft continued its AI revolution by revealing that it would apply the capabilities of ChatGPT to its iconic Excel, Word, and Outlook programs.
Despite early issues such as chatbots providing disturbing responses or blatantly inaccurate information, the Redmond, Washington-based behemoth has been quick to embrace language-based AI, demonstrating less caution than its competitors.
Company’s newest chatbot, Copilot, will use ChatGPT-like capabilities in offices, producing meeting transcripts, calendar entries, and PowerPoint slides almost instantly.
The new release emphasizes that generative AI, the name for ChatGPT-style capabilities, will serve as an assistant for users of Microsoft popular workplace software rather than taking over office duties on its own.
“With this next generation of AI, We are moving from autopilot to copilot,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said at a virtual release event.
