In an effort to defuse escalating tensions between Israel – Lebanon, senior U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein, representing the Biden administration, is set to embark on a visit to Beirut on Wednesday. This move comes amid mounting concerns about the situation along the Israel-Lebanon border.

Hochstein’s mission is to engage in crucial discussions with prominent Lebanese figures. His itinerary includes meetings with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati, interim Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib, and Lebanese Chief of Staff Gen. Joseph Aoun. Notably, Hochstein’s conversation with Gen. Aoun is expected to center around the land border dispute with Israel, as reported by Lebanese media.
