In a recent announcement on September 4th, AWS Japan unveiled the list of companies that have been selected to participate in their large-scale language model LLM development support program.
This initiative, which was initially announced in July, has garnered significant interest from various Japanese companies and organizations. Out of approximately 60 applicants, AWS Japan has chosen 17 companies to be part of this program, marking a significant step forward in the development of language models in the Japanese context.
The Chosen Ones
The list of selected companies includes:
- CyberAgent
- Manefo
- Preferred Networks (PFN)
- Rinna
- Ricoh
- Money Forward
- Matsuo Research Institute
AWS Japan has shown its commitment to fostering the growth of language models by allocating a total of $6 million in usage fee subsidies and technical support for these chosen companies.

LLM Development Support Program by AWS Japan is designed to provide comprehensive support to Japanese companies and organizations engaged in LLM development using AWS. The support extends beyond just subsidizing usage fees; it also encompasses guidance on securing necessary computer resources for LLM development and technical support for LLM pre-studies conducted on AWS.
