Militants with links to Al-Qaeda have targeted an army position in northwest Syria, killing at least nine government soldiers.
The attack is the latest in a series of violations of a truce brokered by Russia and Turkey in March 2020.

In another part of northwest Syria, opposition fighters backed by Turkey briefly seized control of a village that had been held by Kurdish forces.

Meanwhile, in eastern Syria, fighting has erupted between the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and local tribal groups.
The violence has claimed the lives of 45 people and left dozens wounded.
The Syrian Democratic Council (the political wing of the SDF) has accused Iranian-backed militias and the Syrian government of instigating the unrest.
